Tony Kirby has an extensive sailing career, with over 30 years of blue water sailing and Sydney
Hobart Yacht races under his belt. Tony comes from a family with an extensive history in ocean racing, reaching back three generations. Much of his childhood was spent at the CYCA with his father, Raymond Kirby. It was here that he learned the ropes sailing on his father’s yacht Patrice III.
Tony has strong connections with the boating industry through his experience in a sailing school, ship chandlery, yacht chartering, project management and racing a large number of ocean racing boats.
Tony has been a member of the CYCA since 1994. In 1997 he became a member of the Safety Committee as a Safety Inspector, a role he has maintained ever since. In 2011 he joined the Sailing Committee, and 2014 he joined the Board as a Director.
Tony is currently chairing the Cruising Committee. He is also a member of the Redevelopment Committee and the newly formed Technology Committee.
Leander has worked in executive management roles at the City of Sydney for the last decade, with a focus on governance, communication and the provision of support for the elected officials. She holds a degree in Communications.
Leander has sailed regularly both inshore and offshore including the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race and continues to enjoy all forms of racing. Leander has been a member of the Board since 2014, chairing the Archives Committee and also served as a member of several other Committees.
