The Cruising Yacht Club of Australia celebrates its 75th anniversary in 2019 – and Members, guests and yachting enthusiasts alike are in for a treat with a year-long celebration planned.
Australia Day marked the start of the Club’s celebrations, with a family fun day – featuring 3-Minute Angel massages, wine tastings, nail and beauty bar, a barbecue and a DJ – kicking off this historic year. But that’s just the start!
The Club will continue to mark its 75th year and pay tribute to the past, present and future, with a range of other activities, events and offers including but not limited to:
- A black-tie Commodore’s Ball;
- An international Women’s Day Breakfast;
- The Great Veterans’ Race and Founders’ Day;
- Classic yachts regattas;
- An historic #75thSydneyHobart crew party;
- The 75th Rolex Sydney Hobart; and
- A celebratory book written by Rob Mundle around the Club’s most-famous race.
In addition to the above events and activities and others to be announced, the Club is also introducing a range of new Membership benefits, with Members now offered better value than ever before. Membership to the CYCA, from Saturday 26 January, includes the following discounts:
- 10% off bar and bottle shop sales
- 5% off food purchases from Café 44
- 25% off all function room hire
- 20% off all clothing
- 10% off ticketed CYCA events (excluding events principally aimed at raising funds for the CYCA SOLAS Trusts or the Youth Sailing Academy)
The Club has also launched a new logo celebrating the 75-year anniversary, which will be used in the Clubhouse, across the Club’s digital platforms, in Offshore magazine and on a select range of merchandise released later in the year.
“The 75th anniversary is a significant milestone for the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia – and a year-long celebration we want to conduct involving Members and guests alike,” Commodore Paul Billingham said.
“We encourage all to come to the Club and join the party and trust this celebration is one befitting of our founders, current Members and the future of the organisation too.
