Eleven Days Until 2013 Rolex Sydney Hobart Entries Close

With just 11 days until entries for the 69th Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race close, 84 entries have been received by the organising authority, the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia.

Recent entries include Midnight Rambler, the Ker 40 owned by Ed Psaltis, Bob Thomas and Michael Bencsik, which was the 70th entry received, reigning race record holder Wild Oats XI, Bob Oatley’s ever-evolving super maxi, and Spirit of Mateship, the Volvo 60 formerly raced as Southern Excellence.

CYCA Redevelopment Update: Week Commencing 21 October 2013

Last week saw the centre section of the hardstand prepared and concrete deck poured. Concreting to the area where the existing crane is to be located was delayed and will now be poured on Wednesday 23 October. CLICK HERE TO VIEW TIME LAPSE VIDEO

Unfortunately as a result of the steel beams being delivered for the final southern section of the hardstand later than programed the date previously mentioned for practical completion has been moved from 23 October to 30 October.

The remainder of the week will see the reo steel installed to the final section and the concrete poured to this area on Friday 25 October (this date is still subject to confirmation by the contractor).

As a result of the delay in setting the crane base and the time dictated by the engineers for the crane base to cure, the crane will not be operational until at least 6 November.

It is envisaged the new lockers will be delivered in the latter half of week beginning 28 October and boats returned to the hardstand week beginning 4 November.

The delays to the program are regrettable, but the completion of the redevelopment is now in sight. On behalf of the Site Redevelopment Committee I apologise if the delays have caused members any inconvenience and appreciate the patience and co-operation of all members during this time.
