Gascoigne Cup gets Brannew fired up for Rolex Sydney Hobart

Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race entrant Brannew is looking all fired up for her second race south this year, scoring an impressive IRC win in today’s Gascoigne Cup short ocean race off the Heads.

“It was an ideal day for the Beneteau First 40s, anything over 14 knots and they really go well to windward,” said owner/skipper Chris Bran. “Today we sailed in a 12-17 knot sou’easter…just the thing.”

LDV Comanche secures line honours and the race record

Sport is often determined by fine margins and yachting is no exception. After a phenomenal contest between Jim Cooney’s LDV Comanche and the Oatley family’s Wild Oats XI over the full 628nm of the Rolex Sydney Hobart concluded yesterday in the Derwent River, the line honours title for first to finish was eventually decided today in the protest room. An incident between the two 100-footers, shortly after the start, was adjudged in favour of LDV Comanche.

Marine Safety & Equipment Day, Sunday 3 November - POSTPONED

CYCA Members and their guests are advised that the CYCA Marine Safety and Equipment Demonstration Day has had to be postponed due to the uncertainty of the completion of development work taking place on the CYCA site.
The CYCA Cruising Committee plans to conduct the activity around the same time in 2014 and will notify interested parties of the details when this is organised. John Keelty, Cruising Captain

Boat Weighing Day - 12 November 2013

Expressions of Interest are being sought for competitors who wish to have their boats weighed for IRC/ORCi ahead of the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race. The weighing will  take place at Woolwich Dock on 12 November from 0900hours. Interested boat owners should contact the Sailing Office via email sailingoffice@cyca.com.au
