This Sunday - Free Demonstrations, Information and Updates on Marine Safety Equipment and Devices

This Sunday 2 November, the Marine Safety Equipment and Demonstration Day will be conducted at the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia from 10.00am till 2.30pm. The day is designed to showcase the latest developments in personal safety equipment and devices.

In-water demonstrations will commence in the pond from where safety equipment such as inflatable PFDs, harnesses, life rafts and new rescue gear will be demonstrated.

This year AdventureSafety will have their yacht Jem rigged for sea with jackstays, boom brake, Jon Buoy and para anchor rigged for inspection and discussion.

For the PFD in water demonstrations, the guys from Spinlock will use Jem for a demonstration of the importance of the right tether, and then the automatic activation of the Kannad R10 Personal AIS system and location of the RescueMe PLB for hands free operation.  During these demonstrations, Jem will be available for members to watch the response of the Kannad AIS Man Over Board system on the chart plotter.

In addition, Pacific Sailing School will do flare demonstrations (weather permitting), Survitec - wet liferaft demos, SOS Marine - danbuoy and two-person liferaft and Hypo Hoist/Parbuckle demos.

There will be displays from leading marine equipment suppliers GME, Sturrocks, Great Circle, Marine Safetyworks, The Debif Shop, Harken/Spinlock, Survitec and BoatCrewGear.

Jem will also provide you with the chance to test your rescue knife.   Adventure Safety will have samples of tether line and spectra line for you to test - alongside the latest knives from Wichard, Gill and Spinlock.  So, don’t forget to bring your knife!
