Rod Wills’ Great Xpectations went above and beyond this afternoon to beat Julian Farren-Price’s about Time for a win in the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia’s Botany Bay Race, the second of the Club’s Ocean Point Score Series – but today’s victory spilled over into something else for Wills.

Marine Safety & Equipment Demonstration Day - Sunday 2 November, 10am - 2.30pm

On Sunday 2 November, the CYCA will conduct a Marine Safety Equipment and Demonstration Day for the benefit of members, their guests and the wider cruising and racing community.

Leading manufacturers and suppliers of the latest personal safety equipment will provide demonstrations and information sessions to showcase the latest techniques, devices and information about rescue at sea.   The demonstrations will include life-rafts, par-buckle, PLBs PFDs, AIS MOB location devices, laser rescue flares and more!

The sailing fraternity will be saddened to hear of the death of Don Mickleborough who died peacefully in his sleep in the early hours of Thursday October 23, following a long battle with cancer.

Members are advised that the pond will be closed on the below dates to accommodate the Marine Safety Equipment and Demonstration Day:

Childrens Christmas Party - 2-4pm, Sunday 7 December 2014

Santa is coming to CYCA!!    Enjoy a fun filled Christmas party with balloons, face painting, party tricks and a present for every child. Children are welcome to come dressed up!

Where: The Freya Room 2-4pm

RSVP Date:  Monday 24 November 2014.   Please indicate the name, gender and age of each child when booking.  This is so Santa can select an appropriate gift for each child from his warehouse!!

The Children's Christmas Party is hosted for the children and grandchildren of CYCA members.  The highlight of the afternoon is not only hanging out with Stretch "The Magical Clown" and his friend, but a visit from SANTA who will be arriving by RIB.

There is no better time to become a  full member of the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia – Entrance fee reduced to only 70 cents!

As part of the Club's 70th Anniversary celebrations the Board has resolved to significantly reduce the entrance fee for Full Membership from $500 to only 70 cents for all new membership applications received from now until 31 December 2014.

Furthermore, the member who introduces the most new full members wins four tickets on board the Club’s spectator vessel located inside the exclusion zone to watch the start of the 70th Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race on Boxing Day.

The challenge is out to all members eligible to propose and second new members to the Club and to encourage family, crew, business associates and friends to join our great Club during the promotional period and join in the celebrations of our 70th Anniversary year.
