Pam Brinsmead, a 39-year member of the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, passed away peacefully in Geelong on Thursday 13th November, aged 91 years.

Parade of Sail to set 70th Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race in motion

As a tribute to those yachts and crews to have played a major role in the evolution of the Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, from its humble beginning back in 1945 to its current status as one of this nation’s greatest sporting events, the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia will hold a Parade of Sail on Sydney Harbour in the lead-up to the main event on Boxing Day.

Vale Trygve Halvorsen

Trygve Halvorsen, an Australian ocean racing legend, boat designer, boat builder and member of the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia since 1946, passed away peaceful on Saturday November 8 after a short stay in hospital, he was 94.

Hurry, time is running out!!   Remind your family and friends that there is no better time to become a  full member of the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia – Entrance fee reduced to only 70 cents!

As part of the Club's 70th Anniversary celebrations the Board has resolved to significantly reduce the entrance fee for Full Membership from $500 to only 70 cents for all new membership applications received from now until 31 December 2014.

Furthermore, the member who introduces the most new full members wins four tickets on board the Club’s spectator vessel located inside the exclusion zone to watch the start of the 70th Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race on Boxing Day.

The challenge is out to all members eligible to propose and second new members to the Club and to encourage family, crew, business associates and friends to join our great Club during the promotional period and join in the celebrations of our 70th Anniversary year.

Spectator Vessel Information

The team from Coast Cruises will once again run a spectator vessel for the SOLAS Big Boat Challenge, Tuesday 9 December.

COAST will again be front and centre on the race course for one of the great days on Sydney Harbour, the SOLAS BIG BOAT CHALLENGE. This is a day not to be missed, no exclusion zone racing means up close and action packed viewing. COAST welcomes back all our regular sailing aficionados, sailing friends and family of the race competitors.

COAST will embark guests  at King St #9 at 1045 hrs on Tuesday Dec 9, and return approx 1530 hrs.

Tickets are $60.00 each or $50.00 for CYCA members and ticket price includes a welcome glass of sparkling and a snack on board.  Extra lunch can be ordered prior to the event.
