Onshore Edition 92 - Monday 7 November
Message from the CEO

It’s now less than 50 days until the 2016 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race and we closed registrations on 28 October with 100 boats.

Last Saturday we brought together representatives of the Race Management and Incident Management teams and NSW Police to view and provide feedback on some new software ‘Smartsheet’ which we are introducing this year for the first time. It will operate in tandem with our current systems this year.

In this edition of Onshore I’d like to focus on the many activities making up this year’s event for you to note in your diaries.

In 2016 we will once again be setting up race villages in both Sydney and Hobart. In Sydney the double sided outdoor screen to view footage leading up to race day, and then the start of the race itself, will operate until the prize giving concludes on 1 January.

The Sydney Race Village will include the Musto merchandise marquee, the Information centre, the Media centre and the JANUS et Cie VIP Lounge.

Key dates to note include:

November

  • 30 – Launch Media Conference for the 2016 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race (RSHYR) - Mark Beretta, Channel 7 MC - Freya Room

December

  • 05 - Bump-in for the 2016 Sydney Race Village commences
  • 09 - Bump-in completed
  • 09 – Inaugural RSHYR Corporate Luncheon (nearly sold out) - Guest speak Paul Clitheroe, MC Mark Beretta.  Pre-luncheon drinks in the Sydney Race Village with the luncheon in Freya Room
