Onshore Edition 93 - Monday 14 November
Message from the CEO

Parking and barking issues kick off this week’s edition of Onshore.

Parking

Members are reminded that Rule 11 of the By-Laws forbids Members leaving a car over-night in the car park, without prior approval of the CEO. With CCTV cameras being installed shortly, ‘offenders’ will be more easily identified, to address such by-law breaches.

With the busiest time of the year approaching, and the bump-in for the race village commencing in three weeks, we seek the co-operation of Members in complying with by-laws, which are in place for the good of all Members and the smooth operation of the club.

Paw Judgement

I am an animal lover, as many will attest to who have seen, and even heard me, interacting with their dogs when they are tied up on the walkways adjacent to the decks. Many Members’ dogs are also part of the fabric of sailing life at the CYCA and ‘sailors’ themselves.

However please remember that they must be tied up outside the club in a responsible manner and location, and be attended to quickly when they get stressed or excited and start barking.

Dogs are not allowed in the club and that includes the deck area. The rules provided by the Office of Liquor and Gaming are very clear and not open to debate:

Dogs in outdoor dining areas
A dog, except a restricted or declared dangerous or menacing dog, is allowed in the outdoor dining area of a cafe or restaurant with the cafe or restaurant owner's consent. Certain restrictions apply:

  • The outdoor dining area must not be enclosed and must be accessible without the requirement to pass through an enclosed area
  • The dog must be on a leash at all times
  • The dog may be provided with drink, but not food
  • The dog must be on the ground at all times

These restrictions do not apply in leash-free areas where:

  • The dog does not have to be on a leash
  • The dog may be given food, as well as drink, while it is on the ground (but not using any apparatus provided for the consumption of food by humans)
  • The dog may sit on a person's lap (but may not sit on any table or chairs or make contact with other apparatus provided for the consumption of food by humans).

As with parking responsibly, we seek your co-operation in managing your dog responsibly.

SAILING

Rotary Regatta

A fleet of 47 boats participated in the Rotary Regatta last Friday with plenty of activity around the club prior to the race start at 3pm, not to mention the return of the crews for the presentation in the early evening.

Port Hacking Race
