Whether you are on the water on Boxing Day, at home recovering from Christmas Day festivities or online anywhere in the world, the coverage of this year’s Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race start and the dash to Hobart will be unprecedented.

Whether you are on the water on Boxing Day, at home recovering from Christmas Day festivities or online anywhere in the world, the coverage of this year’s Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race start and the dash to Hobart will be unprecedented with a new host broadcaster, live radio broadcast of the start and even more improvements to the award winning race website.

Radio coverage – FM107.3

For those lucky enough to be out on the Harbour or enjoying a waterfront picnic for the start of the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race on 26 December, this year you’ll be able to hear a full commentary of the race start from 11.30am – 2.30pm via Sailors Radio Hour on FM107.3. Commentators will include Club members Nev Wittey, Di Pearson and John Sturrock as well as the regular program host, Andrew Powell.

TV coverage – Channel 7

For those not able to view the race start at 1.20pm ringside on Boxing Day, grab your Christmas lunch leftovers and make yourself comfortable on the couch between 1.00pm and 2.30pm when the race start will be broadcast live on Channel 7, the Club’s new host broadcaster.

Channel 7 is promising extensive race coverage as part of their daily news programs and news updates at 4.00pm, 6.00pm, 8.00pm and 10.00pm, at least until the Tattersall’s Cup winner is announced.

The entire fleet will once again be tracked via Yacht Tracker, and their handicap positions updated continuously on the official race web site. Breaking news will be published around the clock and at the end of each day, a selection of photos taken by Rolex’s world class photographers, Carlo Borlenghi and Daniel Forster, will be uploaded to the official race web site. The entire selection of Rolex photos will be available for viewing each evening at www.regattanews.com

A number of improvements to the award winning race web site www.rolexsydneyhobart.com have been rolled out this year and once again, viewers to the site are expected to surpass the previous year’s figures - 73.5 million hits for the 2004 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.

Official program & race merchandise

Offshore Yachting, the official program for the 61st Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race is available now from the CYCA’s Reception desk.

Also available from Reception is the official race merchandise range which includes polos, t-shirts, caps, shorts and jackets - ideal for a Christmas gift or as a memento.  CYCA members are entitled to a 10% discount on all race and Club merchandise.
