PBA and NetComm will deploy and maintain wireless broadband services and access at the Rolex Sydney Hobart Media Centre located at the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia.

NetComm, a leading Australian provider of communications products and solutions, is partnering with iBurst(tm) wireless broadband provider Personal Broadband Australia (PBA) to supply wireless communications to be used by media and event organisers during the 2005 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.

PBA and NetComm will deploy and maintain wireless broadband services and access at the Rolex Sydney Hobart Media Centre located at the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia (CYCA).  The joint wireless solution will consist of a combined NetComm - iBurst(tm) Wireless Hotspot as well as a number of iBurst(tm) wireless laptop modems for use by media.

David Stewart, managing director of NetComm said, "The Rolex Sydney Hobart Race is a great annual tradition of the Australian Christmas holidays. As an Australian-owned and operated company, NetComm is proud to be associated with this prestigious event again this year."

Adrian Coote, managing director of Commander, the parent company of PBA, said, "For the second year in a row, iBurst and NetComm will enable easy, instant and remote wireless access to race information on the water, at the clubhouse and in the media centre.

"Using iBurst, wirelessly connected race managers and accredited race journalists will be able to post race results immediately and globally to the web, and to write and publish stories."

CYCA Commodore Geoff Lavis said, "We reviewed a number of providers before selecting the Personal Broadband Australia - NetComm solution.

"The power and speed of iBurst combined with the quality of NetComm is tremendous.  Based on the feedback received from the 2004 race, we know it will again enable users to upload and publish results as they happen this year."
