Fifty two Hundred

On IRC division one, Ian Short’s TP52, Fifty Two Hundred made it three wins from four in Race 8 of the Short Ocean Pointscore at the weekend, securing them the series win with one race still to go.

It was a 1200 start on Sydney Harbour for the fleet of 16 with Fifty Two Hundred having finished first, second, first in the past three races. Andrew and Pauline Dally’s DK46, Khaleesi, edging them out in Race 6. This week Seb Bohm’s Rogers 46, Sumggler, finished runner up.

Speaking after the race Ian Short, skipper of Fifty Two Hundred, commented, “The crew sailed really well. It was a pretty tricky day, confused sea and bumpy for the amount of wind there was. It was an easterly and we had a breeze strength from 5 knots building up to 10 knots as the day went on. The sun came out too which certainly helped light up the faces.”

“The first round was a little slow but as the breeze built up there was plenty to work with. It’s been a great series, we’ve had a new crew and a new boat to us and, with each race it’s becoming that little bit easier and we’re delighted.”

On IRC division 2 Matt Wilkinson’s Foreign Affair edged Peter Franki’s Saltshaker. Meanwhile on PHS division 1 Edward Cox’s Minerva secured victory over Phil Herscovics Shine On, while on PHS division 2, Robin Shaw’s Nautical Circle took the win over Stuart Jordan’s Optimum.
