Last Thursday evening, 18 October, 120 CYCA members and guests attended the second annual CYCA SOLAS Trusts Fundraising dinner. They were entertained by speaker Victor Kovalenko and raised over $10,000 for CYCA SOLAS Trusts
Victor shared some of his insights as Head Coach of the Australian Sailing Team and answered questions from attendees. Victor shared his passion for the sport of sailing and highlighted a few of the steps, athletes under his direction undertook to become gold medallists.
Another highlight of the evening was the silent auction, which raised funds for the CYCA SOLAS Trusts (which to date has distributed more the $730,000 to search and rescue organisations Australia wide). Fierce bidding on a number of items ensured that over $10,000 was raised for CYCA SOLAS Trusts.
Chairman of CYCA SOLAS Trusts Matt Allen expressed his thanks for those organisations and individuals that donated prizes:
- Evanslea by the River, Mudgee
- Audi Centre Sydney
- Harken Australia
- CYCA Director Andrew Wenham
- Camilla
- Appliances Online
- Cruising Yacht Club of Australia
- Schweppes Australia
- Naomi Hamilton Photography
Thanks also to our lucky door prizes supporters: CYCA, Orpheum Theatre Cremorne, McWilliams Wines, Naomi Hamilton Photography, MacDiarmid Sails
The Associates Committee, together with Commodore Howard Piggott and CYCA SOLAS Trusts Chairman Matt Allen, also recognised the efforts of Kendi Kellett in convening the event.
