Commodore Howard Piggott and CYCA SOLAS Trusts Chairman Matt Allen, together with the Associates committee extend an invitation to CYCA members and ocean racers to attend the second annual CYCA SOLAS Trusts Fundraising Dinner, to be conducted at the CYCA on Thursday 18 October 2012 from 7pm for a 7.30pm start

Our guest speaker for the evening will be Victor Kovalenko, Head Coach of the Australian Sailing Team. Victor is a legend of sailing and has been involved with the Australian Sailing Team for the past four Olympic Games. At the 2012 London Olympic Games Victor coached Malcolm Page and Mathew Belcher (470 class), Nathan Outteridge and Iain Jenson (49er) and Tom Slingsby (Laser) to gold medals with Australian Women's Match Racing team of Olivia Price, Nina Curits and Lucinda Whitty to a silver medal.

Victor is a driving force behind Australia's continued success in Olympic
class sailing, working closely with athletes from all corners of the country and
helping them to reach their goals.

Tickets to this evening cost $125 per person and include a 3 course meal and beverages.

We encourage all yacht owners and your crew to support this  important charity fundraising event as you may one day need to call on the assistance of the organisations that CYCA SOLAS Trusts have made  vital donations to including; Marine Rescue NSW, NRMA Careflight, Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service and Tascoast Radio.

Additionally, there will be a silent auction conducted during the dinner with many great items up for grabs from CYCA SOLAS Trusts supporters including Evanslea By the River Mudgee, Audi Centre Sydney, Harken, Winning Appliances, Camilla and more. All proceeds from the silent auction will go to the CYCA SOLAS Trusts.

The CYCA Sydney Hobart Yacht Race Safety of Life at Sea Trusts (SOLAS) was set up as a charitable trust in 1999 as a result of the tragic events of the 1998 Sydney Hobart Yacht Race. The CYCA SOLAS Trusts objectives are to:
• Provide assistance (financial and other) to immediate families of those lost at sea during Australian Yachting Federation sanctioned races
• Make donations and provide support to search and rescue organisations
• Foster and fund research and training to improve safety and rescue procedures and equipment used in ocean races.

Since they were established in 1998 following the loss of life in the Sydney Hobart Yacht Race that year, the Trusts have donated more than $695,000 to organisations in New South Wales, Tasmania, Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia and the ACT, and the Trusts continues to explore new
organisations to support.

Book your tickets today online or via CYCA Reception on 02 82927800 or reception@cyca.com.au
