Further stories of Sven’s talent and seamanship were provided by Geoff Player (Silver Minx) who Sven sailed with during his first ever SHYR.
Past Commodore and current Australian Sailing President, Matt Allen presented Sven his plaque, along with also honouring the three YSA sailors who competed in their first Sydney to Hobart race last year - Jack Breislin (Indian), Hamish Hardy (Koa) and Bart Hardy (Blacksheep). With all three sailors told to come back in 24 years so they can receive their 25th plaque.
Other presentations included Adrienne Cahalan presenting the ‘Adrienne Cahalan’ trophy for participating in 20 Sydney Hobart Yacht races to Vanessa Dudley. Vanessa’s long-time friend and sailing colleague Kevin Costin spoke to all in attendance about what it is like sailing with her.
